Join us as we bring back the Cornwall Park Neighborhood Picnic for the second year in a row! This year's picnic will be held in a new location, block party-style on Broadway between Cornwall Ave and the Roeder Home. We are excited to share that this event will be co-hosted by our new neighbors, the Whatcom County Historical Society.

What to EXPect:

Please consider walking or biking to the picnic as parking will be limited.

When you arrive at the Roeder Home, look for our banner and check in with a Cornwall Park Neighborhood Association Board Member to get the lay of the land, hear about the options, and buy raffle tickets. The Roeder Home will be the home base for the picnic, where you can find food, drinks, raffle items, the dessert contest, and tours of the Roeder Home.

We will closing off Broadway between Sunset and Cornwall and hosting fun activities for neighbors of all ages, utilizing the green space on Broadway for lawn games, chalk, bubbles, picnicking, and playing under the magnificent old oak trees.

There will be fun, food, and friends new and old. There will be games, a raffle with items from local businesses, and a dessert contest.

Raffle:

Some of our local businesses have generously donated items to our raffle. Please bring cash or be prepared to use Venmo for tickets. You’ll be able to put your tickets towards the item(s) of your choice. Look forward to items/gift cards from: Haggen, Zeek’s Pizza, Menace Brewing, CHS Northwest, West Marine, Pure Bliss Desserts, and local illustrator Luciana Navarro Powell. Raffle ticket prices: 5 tickets for $5, 12 tickets for $10, 20 tickets for $25.

Food and picnic:

Diamond Jim’s will be providing smash burgers and hotdogs. Neighbors are welcome to bring a side dish to share.* There will be some canned non-alcoholic beverages available for free, though we encourage you to bring a water bottle or other beverage of your choice.

In order to comply with Health Code requirements, all potluck dishes must not be time or temperature constrained (i.e. avoid mayo, dairy, etc. and make sure your dish won’t spoil after sitting out for an hour or so). Per our Health Department Permit, only those who bring a dish for the potluck may consume other potluck dishes.

DESSERT CONTEST DETAILS:

Do you have a killer brownie recipe? Is your grandmother's cookie recipe the absolute best? Bring your best finger-food dessert to share* with the neighborhood and compete with your neighbors to see whose dessert reigns supreme!

*If you are bringing anything to share with your neighbors, please label your dish and bring along an ingredient list for allergy safety.

Roeder Home Tours/Whatcom County Historical society:

The Whatcom County Historical Society is offering tours of the Roeder Home every half hour. There will also be an exhibit on the history of our neighborhood.
